Ad-755 137 a Fast Method for Solving a Class of Tri-diagonal Linear Systems

چکیده
The solution of linear systems having real, symmetric, diagonally dominant, tridiagonal coefficient matrices with constant diagonals is considered. It is proved that the diagonals of the LU deccraposition of the coefficient matrix rapidly converge to full floating-point precision. It is also proved that the computed LU decomposition converges when floating-point arithmetic is used and that the limits of the LU diagonals using floating point are roughly within machine precision of the limits using real arithmetic. This fact is exploited to reduce the number of floating-point operations required to solve a linear system from 8n-7 to 5n+2k-5 , where k is much less than n , the ordftr of the matrix. If the elements of the suband superdiagonals are 1 , then only lm+2k-5 operations are needed. The entire LU deccraposition takes k words of storage, and considerable savings in array subscripting are achieved. Upper and lower bounds on k are obtained in terms of the ratio of the coefficient matrix diagonal constants and parameters of the floating-point number system. Various generalizations of these results are discussed.

A New Approach for QFT-type Robust Controller Design in Uncertain Multivariable Systems
This paper presents a robust controller design methodology for a class of linear uncertain multivariable systems with hard time-domain constraints on their outputs and control signals in response to step disturbance inputs. In this approach, the m×m MIMO system is replaced by m2 SISO systems and then, using the QFT technique, desirable controllers are synthesized. The final controller will be d...

In the current study we investigate the two-stage iterative method for solving linear systems. Our new results shows which splitting generates convergence fast in iterative methods. Finally, we solve the Poisson-Block tridiagonal matrix from Poisson's equation which arises in mechanical engineering and theoretical physics. Numerical computations are presented based on a particular linear system...

We have developed a three level implicit method for solution of the Helmholtz equation. Using the cubic spline in space and finite difference in time directions. The approach has been modied to drive Numerov type nite difference method. The method yield the tri-diagonal linear system of algebraic equations which can be solved by using a tri-diagonal solver. Stability and error estimation of the...

Recently, new approach called Stair-Diagonal used for solving a tridiagonal system by Jawad[A. J. Jawad and et.al., Solving a Tri-Diagonal System of Size N Equations by Stair-Diagonal Approach, Adv. Sci. Eng. Med. , 4(2012) 171-175]. In this paper, we developed a Stair-Diagonal Approach in order to remove the cases where the Stair-Diagonal Approach fails. Also, we describe a symbolic computatio...
